Swansboro Rotary hosted its first corn hole tournament earlier this year. It attracted some pretty stiff competition and was roundly considered a huge success, according to Jeff Hunt, club member and one of the tourney organizers.
Teams from across eastern North Carolina turned out for the first-ever Swansboro Rotary Corn Hole Tournament on June 16.
“It was a great turnout,” said Jeff Hunt, co-chairman of the event.
There were 34 teams competing.
Two Greenville men, Frank Modlin and Derek Fateiger, took first place. They went home with the $500 first-place prize.
Hunt said the club plans to sponsor two tournaments a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Weather should never be a problem, due to the fact that tournaments take place indoors.
Club funds support a variety of community projects, including scholarships for deserving high school graduates.
