Wilmington Hammerheads Skills Clinic slated for Surf City

SURF CITY, NC – The Hammerheads are coming! The Wilmington Hammerheads professional soccer team will host a special Skills Clinic at the Surf City Community Building on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 10 am to 1 pm. This is one in a series they are conducting in the region and the only one in the Topsail/Hampstead area.

Several pro players will be on hand for this event from the USL Pro Champion League finalists and the focus will be on intermediate and advanced skills training. The clinic is open to any player from 6 to 16 years of age regardless of skill level. An autograph session will be held at the conclusion of the event. The Hammerheads will also be awarding T-shirts, posters and other items as door prizes. The cost is $30 which can be paid online through www.townofsurfcity.com. The clinic is limited to the first 30 participants.

 

“We hope to offer more special events like this one and are looking to do more with the Hammerheads in the future” says Athletics Supervisor Steve Unger. “Having professional players here for a clinic is a tremendous honor and opportunity for our soccer program.”

 

The clinic will start immediately after Breakfast With Santa (8 a.m.) and following the Hammerheads event, the gym will be opened for indoor soccer free play to any youths 16 and under from 1-4 pm. Signups are now taking place for indoor soccer (futsal) at Surf City Community center with youth divisions playing Saturday afternoons and adult divisions on Sunday nights. Players and coaches should register through townofsurfcity.com.

Practice time will be available through the month of December.
