Pine Knoll Shores, NC – The volunteer department at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores invites anyone interested in volunteering to a drop-in open house from 9 – 11 a.m. this Saturday, Feb. 2. Aquarium staff and veteran volunteers will be on hand to talk about the openings available and the benefits of volunteering. Attendees also will be able to visit discovery carts and other stations around the Aquarium to see volunteers in action.
The Aquarium is recruiting interpreters for a new volunteer post on the salt marsh overlook to share knowledge about herons, egrets and other creatures visible from the shaded deck. Interpreters also are needed at the two popular touch pools, and to assist in visitor education, exhibit interpretation, helping with special events throughout the year and in a variety of other ways. The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is five miles west of Atlantic Beach at 1 Roosevelt Blvd., Pine Knoll Shores, NC 28512. The Aquarium is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $8 for ages 13-61; $7 for ages 62 and up; $6 for ages 3-12; no charge for ages 2 and under and North Carolina Aquarium Society members.
