CofC Cougars Conclude Day One at Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, SC Feb. 8, 2013 - The College of Charleston women’s track & field team kicked off competition at the Tiger Paw Invitational at Clemson on Friday.

Sophomore Danielle Sams finished eighth in the 5K as she clocked a time of 19:04.25 in a field of 27 runners. Sams’ time is a personal best for this season and is 12 seconds off her career-best in the event.

Freshman RoShani Glover, the Southern Conference January Field Athlete of the Month, finished 17th in the long jump with a mark of 5.18 meters (17 feet). Glover will compete in the triple jump tomorrow.

Junior Christine Klinar finished 29th in the weight throw as she had a best throw of 12.72 meters (41-08.75 feet).

The Cougars return to competition tomorrow as they will have several athletes competing on day two of the meet.

The meet will start tomorrow with the pole vault competition at 10:00 a.m. Other events include the mile, 60m hurdles and 60m dash and 400m run.
