Charlotte Bobcats Can’t Claw Back vs Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia, PA – Ramon Sessions scored a team-high 20 points, but despite battling back in the fourth quarter to bring the deficit down to five, the Bobcats could not find a way to get ahead before losing to the Sixers, 87-76, on February 9 in Philadelphia.

Both teams had a tough time converting from the field in the first half, leading to a closely contested and low scoring result with Philadelphia holding a 38-37 lead…During the third frame the Bobcats continued to struggled from the floor, only converting on four of their first 18 shots and fell behind 62-47 with 2:34 remaining in the quarter. By the end of the third the Cats shot 31.8 percent from the field (7-for-22), while Philadelphia connected on 50.0 percent (11-for-22). With the Bobcats struggling to make shots and get stops the Cats went into the final frame down 63-54… Sessions helped keep the Bobcats in the game in the fourth, scoring seven of the Cats first 15 points to cut the Sixers lead to five points, 75-70, with 5:11 remaining in the final frame…Philadelphia answered with a 6-2 run and did not allow the Bobcats to get closer than eight points for the remainder of the game.

The Bobcats bench continues to be productive as they outscored Philadelphia’s reserves, 39-15…The Cats struggled to convert on field goal attempts and finished the game connecting on 30.7 percent (27-for-88) compared to the Sixers 41.9 percent (49-for-93)…The Cats did a great job of getting to the free-throw line and converting, finishing 20-for-23 (87.0 percent) from the charity stripe…The Bobcats struggled down low as they were outrebounded, 60-40, and outscored in points in the paint, 48-24.

Byron Mullens continues to play well since his return from a sprained ankle. He has scored in double figures in every outing since his return. Mullens finished second on the team in scoring with 16 points, pulled down three boards, tallied one steal and added a block.

Ramon Sessions continues to show how valuable he is on the offensive end, scoring in double figures for the eighth time in nine games. He finished with a team-high 20 points, while having a perfect night from the free-throw line (7-for-7). Sessions also grabbed three rebounds, dished out four assists and turned away one shot.

Lavoy Allen had an impressing outing, scoring 14 points, pulling down a career-high 22 rebounds, dishing out three assists and rejecting one shot.

“Well, I think Ramon Sessions was one of those guys that’s a stalwart and then we had to search for a combination of guys that was obviously giving max physical effort and just played well together tonight, and we found that. I thought Gerald Henderson also gave us some valuable minutes. There was cohesion where we worked the ball a bit. We only turned the ball over seven times tonight, so we took care of it.”

Gerald Henderson had a good outing, scoring 13 points, pulling down one rebound, distributing three assists and recording one steal…Brendan Haywood was productive in his minutes as he flirted with a double-double scoring nine points, grabbing seven rebounds, tallying one assist and a steal.
