CHARLESTON, SC Feb. 22, 2013 – The No. 72-ranked College of Charleston women’s tennis team will head to the road this weekend to play No. 38 South Carolina on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Carolina Tennis Center at 10:30 a.m. (ET) in Columbia, S.C.
The Cougars (4-2) were victorious in their first Southern Conference match as they overcame Georgia Southern 6-1 on Wednesday, Feb. 20 in Statesboro, Ga.
The Gamecocks (5-3) are off to a hot start this season and recently bested Southern Conference foe Furman 6-1 on Furman’s home courts.
“It should be a challenging match,” CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. “It looks like we’ll be indoors due to weather which will play to Carolina’s advantage. We’re still without a few of our regular starters but we’ll go up there and give them everything we can. This will also be a good opportunity to improve in match situations in preparation for our spring break road trip next weekend in Florida.”
Next weekend the team will embark on its three-match road trip starting at Stetson on Saturday, Mar. 2 at noon (ET) in DeLand, Fla.
