Defenseman made his Hurricanes debut on Tuesday at Washington
RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Gragnani, 25, was recalled from Charlotte on Monday and made his Hurricanes debut on Tuesday at Washington. The Montreal native ranks tied for second among Checkers defensemen in scoring this season with 21 points (1g, 20a). Signed by the Hurricanes as a free agent on July 11, 2012, Gragnani (6’2”, 201 lbs.) has played 74 career NHL games with Buffalo, Vancouver and Carolina, totaling 18 points (3g, 15a).
The Carolina Hurricanes return to PNC Arena on Thursday, Feb. 28, to host the Pittsburgh Penguins (7 p.m., FOX Sports Carolinas, Hurricanes Radio Network) in the first game of a two-game home stand.
