Pirate Hitter-of-the-Week
Jack Reinehimer, Junior, SS
Among ECU starters, Reinheimer posted a team-best .429 (6-for-14) average during the Pirates 3-1 week … With his double in the third inning against Monmouth on Sunday, he extended his current hitting streak to nine games … He also led the team in hits (six), walks (four) and stolen bases (two) on the week … Against UNCG he picked up his fifth multi-hit of the season going 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, two runs and a sac bunt … In the series opener against Monmouth, Reinheimer was 1-for-4 with a RBI, a walk and a stolen base … His lone hit was an RBI bunt single to third base that scored Zach Houchins … He followed that another two-hit performance (2-for-4) on the week, which was his team-leading sixth multi-hit game on Saturday … Reinheimer drew a walk for the third-straight contest and swiped his second base of the weekend and season … On the season he leads the team and C-USA with a .400 (20-for-50) average … He has one home run, seven RBI, two doubles and nine runs scored.

Pirate Pitcher-of-the-Week
David Lucroy, R-Freshman, RHP
Lucroy won his second-straight start improving to 2-1 on the season after helping East Carolina to a series win over Monmouth … The right-handers struck out a career-high 12 batters in a complete game, two-hit shutout against the Hawks … He retired 27 of 31 batters faced including 16 in a row from the third to eighth innings … After allowing an opening frame walk and hitting the No. 3 hitter in the first inning, Lucroy settled down and got the next two outs leaving a pair of Hawks stranded in scoring position … He retired the side in order in the second inning and got the leadoff batter to groundout to start the third before surrendering his first hit of the contest, a high chopper just left of the pitchers mound … From that point on, Lucroy retired 20 of the final 21 batters he faced giving up a two-out single in the eighth to a pinch hitter, who laced a two-hopper just out of arms length from Chase McDonald at first base … He finished the game with his 12th strikeout when Dan Shea went down swinging , the ninth swinging third strike of the contest … To go along with his 12 punch outs, Lucroy recorded two fly ball and 13 ground outs on 106 pitches … In all, Lucroy fanned at least one batter in seven of nine innings and had multiple strikeouts five times … Over his last two starts, Lucroy has recorded 21 strikeouts to just four walks and has allowed just three runs on four hits in 15.1 innings … Posted first complete game shutout since Seth Maness’ 4-0 gem against Southern Miss back at the 2011 Conference USA Championships … On the season Lucroy boasts a 1.33 ERA in three starts (four appearances) where he has allowed three runs (all earned) on seven hits with 24 strikeouts in 20.1 innings.

PIRATE NOTES
Junior first baseman Chase McDonald led the Pirates with five RBI on the week where he also belted his first home run of the season … He batted just .250 (4-for-16), but scored three runs and added a pair of walks in four games … Drove in at least one run in 3 of 4 games including three against UNCG where he was 2-for-6 with an RBI single in the third and a two-RBI base hit in the eighth … Homered to lead off the sixth inning in the series opening loss to Monmouth, his ninth career homer … On the season he is batting .273 (15-for-55) with a home run, three doubles, five walks, 10 runs and a team-best 13 RBI.

Freshman catcher Luke Lowery batted .500 (3-for-6) in a pair of starts behind the plate … Against UNCG he recorded his second multi-hit game of the year going 2-for-3 with an RBI, which came in the second inning … Recorded third career start in Saturday’s contest against Monmouth going 1-for-3 with a run scored … Currently he is batting .538 (7-for-13) with a triple, two RBI, two walks and three runs scored.

Junior Drew Reynolds notched a pair of saves in three appearances on the week pushing his league total to five … In three outings he fanned five, walked one and gave up four hits in 3.1 scoreless frames … Against UNCG he worked a scoreless ninth allowing two hits with three strikeouts … In the series opener against Monmouth, he allowed one hit in two-thirds of an inning and on Saturday picked up another save in 1.2 innings surrendering one hit with a walk and two punch outs … On the year he owns a team-best 1.00 ERA where he has allowed five runs (one earned) on 11 hits with 11 strikeouts and five walks in 9.0 innings.

Senior Chris Gosik started a pair of games on the weeke (DH, LF) where he batted .375 (3-for-8) with a home run, two doubles and three RBI … Against Monmouth on Saturday, he belted his first home run in nearly two seasons sending a three-run liner over the left field wall in the third inning … He followed that with a pair of doubles in ECU’s 4-0 win on Sunday where he also scored a run.

Dylan Brown posted a .385 (5-for-13) average in four starts last week … The junior college transfer ranked second on the team in hits (five) and slugging (.625) … He added a pair of RBI, scored four times and collected his second triple of the season in the series finale against Monmouth … Currently he is batting .268 (11-for-41) with five extra base hits (3 doubles, 2 triples) with six RBI and nine runs scored.

Ryan Williams (3-0) picked up the win on Saturday against Monmouth working into the eighth inning (7.1 IP) where he allowed six runs (five earned) on 11 hits with three strikeouts … The right-hander was cruising through the first six frames retiring 16 of 21 batters allowing just three hits before surrendering four runs in the seventh … In all four starts this season, Williams has worked into the sixth inning with a season-best eight innings against St. Johns … He sports a 2.86 ERA having allowed 12 runs (nine earned) on 30 hits with 11 strikeouts in 28.1 innings.

Jeff Hoffman had another solid outing on Friday night working eight innings where he surrendered three runs (all earned) on six hits with a pair of walks and four strikeouts … Three of Hoffman’s four outings have been quality starts (6.0 IP/3 or earned less runs) … He owns a 2-1 record with a 3.42 ERA where he has 22 strikeouts in 26.1 innings.

After starting the season 0-3, the Pirates have won nine of its last 11 games, which include three wins in the 10th Annual Keith LeClair Classic, a series sweep of St. John’s and a series win against Monmouth … ECU Head Coach Billy Godwin improved his career coaching record to 524-252-1 and his Pirate record to 262-167-1 … His 261 wins trails only ECU Hall of Famer Dr. Gary Overton, who amassed 427 wins in 13 years (1985-1997) as the Pirates’ skipper.
