Celebrate Arbor Day 2013

Jacksonville, NC March 13, 2013 – Keep Onslow Beautiful is pleased to announce the Celebrate Arbor Day 2013 ceremony will be held Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Onslow County Discovery Gardens. The Discovery Gardens are located at the Onslow County Multipurpose Complex – 4024 Richlands Highway. “Each year, trees are planted in public spaces throughout the county,” states Lisa Rider, Onslow County Solid Waste Assistant Director. “We have selected a beautiful variety of native North Carolina trees to plant in memory of several of our local citizens.” This year (15) trees are being dedicated in honor of the memory of the following individuals: Dovard Edward Padgett, Julia Mallard Andrews, Sarah Humphries, Camillo Francis Liquori, Walter Wayne Vatcher, Jan Pace, Karen Meyerchick, Betty O’Brien, Zane “Keith” Horrell, Kurt Murray, Elmer H. Baysden, Tom Davis, Ola Gray Baysden, Opal Goatley, and Sally Yadlowsky. Immediately following the ceremony the public is invited to assist in the planting of these living tributes at the Discovery Gardens site.
