Cougars Men’s Tennis Hits the Road to Face Furman

CHARLESTON, SC March 13, 2013 – The College of Charleston men’s tennis team will travel across the state to square off against Southern Conference foe Furman on Thursday, March 14 at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Cougars (3-6, 1-2 SoCon) are riding high after claiming their first Southern Conference win in a 4-3 thriller over Davidson at the College of Charleston Tennis Center on Sunday, March 10.

The Paladins (2-8, 0-0 SoCon) are off to a tough start but have faced some very stiff opposition in No. 26 Florida State, No. 20 Clemson, No. 34 South Carolina, No. 29 Florida, No. 58 Alabama and No. 7 Georgia.

Furman will be looking to get revenge on CofC as the Cougars knocked the Paladins out of last year’s SoCon tournament semifinals by a score of 4-0.

“Furman will be well-prepared so this should be a difficult match,” CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. “It will be a battle but Sunday’s win gave us momentum that we should be able to use.”

After Thursday’s match, the Cougars will return home for a day of practice before continuing Southern Conference play versus Appalachian State on Saturday, March 16 at 11 a.m. (ET) at the College of Charleston Tennis Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
