A former national champion setter at Southern California, Olson has completed her third season as an assistant coach with the Cougars. In her tenure with head coach Jason Kepner, College of Charleston has an overall record of 81-24 with two SoCon South Division titles and a SoCon tournament title in 2012. Last fall, the Cougars advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after the program’s first victory over a ranked team, defeating #23 Miami in five sets.

“I am very excited for Kimi to receive this award,” Kepner said. “She is extremely deserving and this program wouldn’t be where it is today without all of her hard work. Her relationships with the players, staff, and entire athletic department are outstanding and productive. She makes my life easier on a daily basis and keeps us always moving in the right direction.”

Olson came to the College of Charleston from the University of Albany where she coached for two seasons, leading the Great Danes to a 45-18 overall record and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008.

A native of New Castle, Ind., Olson earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Southern California in 2008. She attended USC on a full four-year athletic scholarship.
