Opening Day Ceremonies Set for Friday; Doubleheader Scheduled for Saturday
Greenville, SC April 4, 2013 – Due to inclement weather that has hampered the Upstate region all day, tonight’s Opening Day game at Fluor Field between the Greenville Drive and Charleston RiverDogs has been postponed. The Opening Day festivities, which were planned for Thursday’s game, will occur prior to Friday evening’s regularly scheduled game, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM.
Following the conclusion of Friday evening’s game, fans will still be treated to the first spectacular fireworks display of the 2013 season.
The Drive and RiverDogs will play a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 4:30 PM with gates to Fluor Field opening at 3:30 PM. Both games of the twinbill will be seven-inning contests, with game two starting no earlier than 7:00 PM.
Fans holding tickets to Thursday’s regularly scheduled game may exchange them for any 2013 Greenville Drive game at Fluor Field, subject to availability. Those fans who have tickets for Saturday, will have access to the ballpark for both games of the doubleheader.
“We are disappointed that Mother Nature did not cooperate today, and our great fans will have to wait another day for the start of the Drive’s 2013 season,” note General Manager Mike deMaine. “With the Opening Day ceremonies now taking place on Friday, in which we introduce our ‘Everybody Plays Here’ theme, as well as post-game fireworks, it will be an exciting night at Fluor Field for our fans.”
