Cougars Fourth Going into Final Round of SoCon Championship

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC April 15, 2013 – Freshman Mary Chandler Bryan (Chapin, S.C.) shot a 1-under 71, but the College of Charleston women’s golf team slipped to fourth-place following the second of three rounds of the SoCon Women’s Golf Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club on Monday.

 

The Cougars shot a 25-over par score of 313 in the second round and are +42 for the tournament. They trail Furman (+34), UNCG (+30) and tournament leader Chattanooga (+21).

Bryan made three birdies on her final nine holes on the golf course to shoot 71 and move from 11th place into fourth-place. She is two shots back of individual leader, Fanny Cnops of UNCG, who shot a 4-uner 68 in the second round.

 

Senior Katharina Boehm (Munich, Germany) and freshman Julia Neumann (Berlin, Germany) each carded rounds of 78 and are tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard.

 

The Cougars will tee off from the first hole in the final round of the tournament at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow and will be paired with Samford and Appalachian State, each of which trail the Cougars by three strokes.
