Charlotte, NC April 17, 2013—Phil Mickelson, winner of 41 PGA TOUR titles, and the No. 10 ranked player on the Official World Golf Ranking, committed this afternoon to play in the Wells Fargo Championship, scheduled for April 29-May 5 at Quail Hollow Club.
Mickelson, a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, will be making his tenth appearance in the Wells Fargo Championship. Last year, he finished tied for 26th.
“Phil brings another level of excitement when he enters a tournament and we are grateful that during the past ten years he has supported this event not only by his presence but as an advocate away from Charlotte.” said Wells Fargo Championship Executive Director Kym Hougham. “His record here has been very consistent, he is ranked 4th on our all-time money list. I anticipate he will once again be a factor during the weekend.”
Mickelson holds the Wells Fargo Championship record for the most top ten finishes, with six in nine appearances. Along with his solo second in 2010, he finished T5 in 2004, T7 in 2005, T3 in 2007, T5 in 2009 and T9 in 2011.
