Taylor Wins Shot Put at Prestigious Penn Relays

Wolfpack sophomore improves upon last weekend’s season-best throw

PHILADELPHIA – Redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor won the women’s shot put, highlighting the NC State track & field team’s first day at the 119th Penn Relays Thursday afternoon.

Taylor, who earned her second-straight All-ACC accolade at last weekend’s ACC Championships, topped her season-best mark in the women’s shot put with a 53’ 11.75” (16.45m) heave to claim the top spot on the award podium.

Senior jumper Karimah Shepherd also had a strong showing in the women’s long jump with a fourth-place finish after her 20’ 0.25” (6.10m) leap into the sand pit. Shepherd was the ACC Champion in the event last weekend.

Senior Danielle Adams also competed for the Pack, and took sixth place in the women’s high jump with a 5’ 6.00” (1.68m) hop over the horizontal bar.

The Wolfpack will continue competition on day two of the Penn Relays Friday, April 26.
