Charlotte, NC June 21, 2013 – Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield announced today that Mike Cristaldi has accepted an executive position with the organization as Vice President of Communications. Cristaldi comes to Charlotte from the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he most recently served as Director of Public Relations and Community Relations.
“We look forward to having Mike join our organization,” Whitfield said. “He brings over 15 years of experience to our communications department and has a proven track record of success. This hiring continues our aim of adding quality people to our team both on and off the floor.”
Cristaldi spent the last 13 years with the Timberwolves organization, including the last six seasons as the team’s director of public relations and community relations. In that role, he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day public relations efforts for the Timberwolves, directing both the team’s basketball and non-basketball publicity. He initially joined the organization as manager of public relations for the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx in 2000 before transitioning to manager of public relations for the Timberwolves prior to the 2003-04 NBA season.
A graduate of Marquette University with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English, Cristaldi’s work experience also includes time with the Continental Basketball Association’s Rockford Lightning and the Las Vegas Stars of Triple-A baseball’s Pacific Coast League.
Bobcats Sports & Entertainment owns the Charlotte Bobcats and operates Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena.
