Charlotte Knights Fall to Louisville Bats 5-1 on Thursday

Louisville, KY June 28, 2013 – The Louisville Bats scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on to beat the Charlotte Knights by a score of 5-1 on Thursday in game three of their four-game series from Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, KY. Charlotte’s only run came on a solo home run from Tyler Greene in the fifth inning.

Louisville starter Chad Reineke (7-4, 3.12) allowed just one run over eight innings for the victory. Reineke allowed just four hits over his eight innings and struck-out four. Reliever Logan Ondrusek gave up one hit in the ninth before closing out the game three win for the Bats.

Charlotte starter Andre RIenzo allowed five runs (one earned) over six innings and was saddled with the loss. Rienzo, who was named to the 15th Annual SiriusXM Futures Game on Wednesday, struck-out eight batters on the evening.

Right fielder Denis Phipps led the way offensively for the Bats. Phipps went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the win. Phipps also swiped his 11th base of the season.

The Knights managed just five hits on the night. Mike McDade added his ninth hit over his last 10 games.

The two teams will conclude their series from Louisville on Friday night with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. RHP Erik Johnson is expected to make his second career Triple-A start for the Knights in the finale.

The Knights will return home to Knights Stadium on Saturday, June 29th to open a patriotic five-game homestand.
