New Hanover County Library to host Federal Budget Exercise

WILMINGTON, NC January 22, 2014 – Join in an interactive and thought-provoking exercise in trying to pass a Federal budget at 2 pm on Saturday, February 8 at the Northeast Library located at 1241 Military Cutoff Road. Titled “Principles & Priorities”, the exercise will be facilitated by Dr. Mark Imperial, Dr. Woody Hall, and Dr. Tom Simpson from UNCW and Dr. Gregory Arey from Cape Fear Community College.

The Concord Coalition

“Principles & Priorities” was created by the Concord Coalition, a non-partisan grassroots organization advocating generationally responsible fiscal policy. For more information about the group, visit www.concordcoalition.org.

Participants in “Principles & Priorities” experience the difficulties of working as a group to produce a balanced federal budget while reducing the deficit and improving the nation’s fiscal outlook. This is an educational and fun way for citizens to gain a better understanding of the inner-workings of the American government.

While participation in the exercise is free, space is limited and preregistration is required. For more information or to register, call 910-798-6306 or email jroach@nhcgov.com.

New Hanover County Public Library offers citizens and visitors access to technology, information resources, and special collections relating to the area’s history and cultural heritage.
