Defender signs on for third consecutive season with USL PRO club
Wilmington, NC Feb. 11, 2014 – Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced today that defender Christian Davidson will be returning to the club for his third consecutive season.
Davidson first debuted with the Hammerheads during the 2012 USL PRO regular season that led to a conclusion at the 2012 USL PRO Championship.
“I am thrilled to have re-signed with the Hammerheads,” said Davidson. “I love representing the club and the City of Wilmington. The Hammerheads are a great organization with fantastic fans and with the new Toronto FC affiliation, the club continues to head in the right direction. We have a strong core group of guys returning and I am excited to see who else joins us.”
Davidson spent time training with Sunderland in September 2013 following the end of the USL PRO regular season. He also spent time coaching local youth soccer programs with Cape Fear Soccer Club in Wilmington.
A 2011 graduate of University of North Carolina Wilmington, Davidson originally hails from Sugar Land, Texas. He competed in the CAA conference during his four years on the men’s soccer team at UNCW.
“It is great to have Christian back alongside some of our other returning players,” said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Head Coach David Irving. “He has been a consistent player and product of UNCW. We are happy to have him remain in Wilmington where people have been able to watch him compete on different levels.”
The Hammerheads kick off their first game of the 2014 USL PRO regular season on Saturday, April 5 versus the Harrisburg City Islanders at Legion Stadium.
