For the second time in four years, Durham’s Charlie Montoyo will manage the International League All-Star Team. He led the IL to a 2-1 victory at the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game, one season after winning his first League title. The Bulls won another Governors’ Cup in 2013 as Montoyo picked up his second IL Manager of the Year Award. With six division titles in his first seven seasons with Durham, Montoyo is closing in quickly on the franchise’s all-time record for managerial victories. He recorded his 600th win as Bulls manager last Saturday in Indianapolis.

Serving as coaches on Montoyo’s All-Star staff will be Columbus Clippers manager Chris Tremie along with Clippers pitching coach Tony Arnold.  Tremie is at the helm in Columbus for the second straight season after having led his Double-A Akron team to the 2012 Eastern League championship.  Arnold is also in his second season in Columbus and his 25th overall in the Minor Leagues as a pitching coach.

Bob Mariano is in his third season as manager of the Grizzlies after spending the previous seven years as the San Francisco Giants’ Coordinator of Minor League Hitting Instruction. In his first year with the club in 2012, he led Fresno to their fifth winning campaign (74-70) in the franchise’s 16-year history. That same season, 18 of his former players helped the Giants capture their second World Series title in three years.  Mariano is the first manager from Fresno to serve in the Triple-A All-Star Game.

Glenn Dishman, pitching coach of the Albuquerque Isotopes, and Bob Skube, hitting coach of the Nashville Sounds, will be joining Mariano in Durham as members of the PCL’s coaching staff.  Dishman’s coaching career has spanned ten seasons, with the last four coming in Albuquerque. The Isotopes’ pitching staff owned the fourth-best ERA (4.05) and third most strikeouts (1,135) in the PCL in 2013 under his tutelage. The 2014 campaign is Skube’s fourth-consecutive season working in the PCL and second with Nashville. The former Major League outfielder with the Milwaukee Brewers began his coaching career in 2005 as High-A Bakersfield’s hitting coach.

The athletic trainer for the IL All-Star squad is Mike Sandoval, who is in his third season with Durham and 28th overall in professional baseball. For the Pacific Coast League, Jason Roberts will serve as the athletic trainer. Roberts is in his fourth season with the Round Rock Express and eighth in the Texas Rangers organization.
