Carolina RailHawks Host Indy Eleven for NASL Match of the Week

CARY, NC July 11th, 2014 – The Carolina RailHawks return to NASL action when they host Indy Eleven in their 2014 Fall Season Opener on Saturday, July 12th at WakeMed Soccer Park. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET and it is the NASL’s “Match of the Week” broadcast on ESPN3. Saturday’s match will also be televised on WRAL2, webcast on NASLlive.comand via the radio on99.9HD-3 The Ticket.

Match Preview: RailHawks Host Indy Eleven

Indy will be making their first trip to Cary, NC and the match will only be the second time the club’s have met. In Week 1 of the NASL Spring Season, the RailHawks travelled to Indianapolis and came away with a 1-1 draw. Indy Eleven forward Mike Ambersley opened the scoring at Michael  A. Carroll Stadium in the 43rd minute before Zack Schilawski would level the match in the 50th minute.

 

During the World Cup break, Indy and Carolina both participated in the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. After defeating Major League Soccer’s Chivas USA and LA Galaxy, the RailHawks were knocked out by FC Dallas. The RailHawks jumped on the board in the 9th minute on a goal from Schilawski, but went into halftime down a goal. Two late goals in the 89th and 90th minutes finished the match 5-2 in favor of the visiting FC Dallas. The match also snapped the RailHawks 23-match home unbeaten streak. Indy advanced to the Fourth Round before being knocked out by the Columbus Crew (MLS) with a 1-2 result in extra time.

 

The RailHawks will now look to extend their 18-match NASL Regular Season home unbeaten streak and 17-match unbeaten streak across all NASL competitions.

 

World Cup Champion Visit WakeMed Soccer Park

Indy Eleven visits WakeMed Soccer Park with a roster boasting 2002 FIFA World Cup Champion, Kleberson.  The Brazilian midfielder appeared in six matches during the 2002 World Cup, including a start in the Final.  Brazil would go on to beat Germany 2-0 and lift the World Cup trophy. Kleberson also appeared in Brazil’s Round of 16 victory over Chile in the 2010 World Cup.

 

RailHawks Add Depth Ahead of Fall Season

The Carolina RailHawks have added midfielder Leo Osaki to their NASL roster ahead of the start of the Fall Season.  Osaki has appeared in the RailHawks friendly matches versus the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team and Puebla FC, playing both centrally in the midfield and in defense.  The 22-year old Osaki is a native of Japan and spent a large part of his childhood in Hawaii.  The midfielder is expected to compete for a spot in the RailHawks midfield and has the versatility to play in the central defense.
