CAROLINA BEACH, NC July 14, 2014 – Pleasure Island has another great week of FREE activities for your vacationing and leisure-time fulfillment. There is always something for everyone on our little slice of paradise.

Please plan to join us for Thursday nights’ FREE concert on July 17th from 6:30 until 9:30 featuring Dubtown Cosmonauts.

Fireworks By The Sea and Boardwalk Music featuring DUBTOWN COSMONAUTS

Dubtown Cosmonauts are a collaboration of musicians whose hearts and souls rest in the beaches of Wilmington, North Carolina. Their high-energy, audience-captivating sets will bring you everything you could possibly want in a live show: funky, upbeat originals, mind-bending solos coming at you from all angles, and an impressive and eclectic catalog of carefully selected covers that keep the audience wondering which musical direction the band will take them next.

And don’t forget to stay for our fantastic DOUBLE Fireworks show at 9:00 pm (weather permitting). Come join your family and friends at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk for a night of FREE fun, music and fireworks.

The following night, Kure Beach OceanFront Park will be presenting The Martini Men – a tribute to Dean Martin, Elvis and Neil Diamond. This will be happening from 7 – 10 pm as part of ther Kure Beach Friday Variety Series.

In Carolina Beach, don’t forget about Family Night every Tuesday at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk from 6:30-8:30, followed by Cash BINGO at the Gazebo Stage from 7:00-9:00 on Wednesday evenings. Let us not forget, the very popular Carolina Beach Farmer’s Market held every Saturday from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Carolina Beach Lake.

At Kure Beach’s new Oceanfront Park, they have a bevy of activity starting with Turtle Talks every Monday from 7:00-8:00 pm, followed by Tuesday’s Open Air Market from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. On Wednesday, bring the young ones to Story Time By The Sea from 10:00-11:30 am.

To close out the week, this Sunday, July 20th, Boogie in the Park present L Shape Lot at the Ocean Front Park from 5:00-8:00 pm.

Mixing a healthy amount of musical chops, honest, and creative songwriting, powerful stage presence and well sung four-part harmonies, L Shape Lot creates an original and dynamic Americana sound based in country, rock, bluegrass, and roots/folk music. Their lively sound explores new ground, while still paying homage to their predecessors. L Shape Lot is from Wilmington, NC and consists of four members: Eric Miller (Acoustic guitar, vocals), Alex Lanier (electric, acoustic guitar, vocals) Rick Williams ( 6 string electric bass, upright bass, vocals) and John Kovalski (drums, vocals).

And finally, the movie at the Carolina Beach Lake will be the Disney fun-filled Super Buddies. The showing will be at 8:45 pm at the Carolina Beach Lake at the corner of South Lake Park Boulevard and Atlanta Avenue.

Watch the fur fly as a new breed of superhero is born in Disneys fun-filled epic adventure. An ordinary day at Fernfield Farms turns extraordinary when Budderball, Mudbud, B- Dawg, Buddha and Rosebud discover mysterious rings that grant them each a unique superpower. Before you can say, deg;Buddies, assemble; the pups unleash their amazing abilities and race to the rescue when a shape-shifting bully from outer space threatens the planet.

All movies are weather-dependent, so be sure to call ahead (910-458-8434), if the weather seems threatening to make sure the show will go on.

 

These films are free and open to the public. Popcorn, candy, soft drinks, cotton candy and other popular concessions are available at reasonable prices. This is a true summer time treat for adults and kids alike.
