WILMINGTON, NC July 31, 2014 – Wilmington Hammerheads FC is scheduled to take on the Richmond Kickers for their final match of a three-game series this season on Friday, August 1 at 7:30 p.m. ET at Legion Stadium.
The Hammerheads and Kickers concluded their first meeting in June at City Stadium with a 2-2 draw after a pair of Hammerheads goals were collected late in the second half to equalize with a pair of goals from Richmond’s Matthew Delicâte scored in the first half. Two weeks later, the Kickers traveled to Wilmington for their second matchup ending in 1-1 tie after Tom Parratt leveled the score in the 60th minute.
The Hammerheads enter Friday’s match following a 2-0 loss at Queens Sports Complex versus the Charlotte Eagles last weekend. The defeat was the third loss for the Hammerheads this season as they continue to trail all teams in the league with the least amount of matches played to date.
As the race for a playoff berth continues, the Hammerheads have a tight schedule ahead of them entering into late August with a cross-country road trip and the make-up match versus Orlando City.
Wilmington is scheduled to host the Dayton Dutch Lions on Saturday, August 9 for their annual ‘Pink Out’ match at Legion Stadium in support of the local organization, The Pink Ribbon Project. Fans can bid on the pink jerseys worn by the Hammerheads players during Saturday’s match online at www.wilmingtonhammerheads.com from Monday, August 3 until Friday, August 15. Terms and conditions of the auction will be defined online.
