No. 14 South Carolina Women’s Soccer Travels to No. 18 Duke for Exhibition Thursday

COLUMBIA, SC August 13, 2014 – No. 14 South Carolina travels to No. 18 Duke on Thursday for its lone exhibition contest of the 2014 campaign. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium on the Duke University campus.

The preseason match-up will test the Gamecocks as Duke advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight last season, totaling a 9-9-6 overall record. The Blue Devils return seven starters from the 2013 squad and are welcoming the No. 2 rated recruiting class in the nation.

 

South Carolina is coming off one of the most successful campaigns in program history, finishing 2013 with a No. 15 final ranking. South Carolina compiled a 17-4-2 record and posted the only undefeated home record in school history (11-0-0). The team also recorded its sixth NCAA appearance in the last seven years.

 

Following Thursday’s exhibition, South Carolina officially opens the 2014 campaign when it travels to East Carolina on Fri., Aug. 22. The Gamecocks open their home slate in Stone Stadium on Sun., Aug. 24, at 6 p.m.
