The Seahawks open the regular season on Friday at 7 p.m. against N.C. State in Raleigh. The Blue Devils face Ohio State on Friday at 5 p.m. in the UNC Nike Classic.

Dorsey’s early score stood up after both teams tightened up defensively and battled to a stalemate the rest of the way before 296 fans.

Dorsey took the ball on the left flank, dribbled through the Seahawk defense and launched a shot from 10 yards out that deflected off UNCW goalie Liisa Rahkola’s hands just under the crossbar for the only tally of the game.

Duke posted a 10-5 advantage in shots, but the Seahawks matched the Blue Devils with four shots apiece after intermission.
