ASHEVILLE, NC August 20, 2014 – The French Broad Vignerons announce the results of the Asheville Wine and Food Festival Wine Competition. These wines were evaluated by teams of trained judges who tasted and rated the wines submitted for the 2014 Asheville Wine and Food Festival. Wines were evaluated using a modified version of the UC – Davis wine evaluation protocol. Each wine was tasted by two panels of judges to assure quality of evaluation. Those wines earning Gold or Silver medals became the first wines named Best Of The Appalachians (BOTA) by the Vignerons. The new Android Security Modules (ASM) framework aims to eliminate the bottleneck that prevents developers and users from taking advantage of new security tools. “In the ongoing arms race between white hats and black hats, researchers and developers are constantly coming up with new security extensions,” says Dr. William Enck, an assistant professor of computer science at NC State and a senior author of a paper describing the new framework. WILMINGTON, NC August 20, 2014 – Cape Fear Museum is expanding its education programming to offer more in-depth experiences for its visitors. Beginning in September, the Museum will host Family Science Saturday. These workshops are hands-on experiences that encourage families to experiment, discover, and explore together.  Each month features activities – including a take home project – focused on a different history and/or science topic. The 45-minute program is offered three times on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 12 p.m. in Williston Auditorium.
