WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC Oct. 30, 2014 – Prime oyster season has arrived and the Wrightsville Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting their Second Annual Oyster Roast on Sunday, Nov. 2, 4-7 p.m. This all you can shuck and eat festival will be surfside, at Oceanic Pier. On the menu will be an estimated 40 bushels of fresh local oysters, shrimp plates, sides, sauces, hushpuppies, deserts, drinks, and optional bar. The first session of the fall-winter schedule for the popular program is Oct. 20 at Island Grille in Atlantic Beach. Ride North Carolina’s AMTRAK to the State Fair: Carolinian to make special stop at fairgrounds in Raleigh

WASHINGTON, DC Oct. 10, 2014 – Amtrak is the most convenient way to travel to this year’s North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh. Beginning Oct. 17 and continuing through Oct. 26, the Carolinian (Trains 79/80) will make a special stop twice a day near the fairgrounds entrance. Passengers traveling from Charlotte, Kannapolis, Salisbury, High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham, and Cary will have easy access to the fair. The northbound Carolinian leaves Charlotte at 7 a.m. with a scheduled arrival at the fairgrounds at 10:08 a.m. The southbound Carolinian departs the fairgrounds at 4:56 p.m., with a scheduled arrival in Charlotte at 8:12 p.m.  The special stop is wheelchair accessible and the train has Wi-Fi®.
