Farish will work with NCMA Teen Arts Council and teens across North Carolina   RALEIGH, NC August 11, 2014 – The North Carolina Museum of Art announces that local artist Kiki Farish will serve as the NCMA’s Teen Programs artist in residence. The residency begins at the NCMA Teen Arts Council kickoff party on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, and runs through the NCMA ArtScene teen event on Saturday, April 25, 2015. As artist in residence, Farish will help students explore the artistic process and personal expression through drawing. Onslow County Master Gardeners Offering a Public Hypertufa Class

JACKSONVILLE, NC August 6, 2014 – Onslow County Master Gardner volunteers are offering a hypertufa class September 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Onslow County Farmer’s Market, 4024 Richlands Highway. Hypertufa is an artificial stone material made of several different aggregates and mixed with portland cement. It is much lighter than cement but can still withstand harsh weather conditions. It is primarily used as garden art and is fairly easy and fun to make. Typical items made with hypertufa include planters, bowls, yard and garden decorations, fountains, pots and troughs.
