NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC Nov. 14, 2014 – Enchanted Airlie, Airlie’s holiday light show, is a Wilmington family tradition. Since first illuminating in 2005, Enchanted Airlie remains a wonderful opportunity to bring the whole family together to share in the joy of the season with holiday flowers, festive lights, spectacular displays, music of the season, and more! New this year, Winter Princesses Elsa and Anna will greet guests and be available for photos- you may even hear a song or two! Then stroll through sparkling light displays at your own pace. Warren Wilson College (WWC) To Host Sustainable Viticulture Conference

Ashville, NC – The 2nd Annual North Carolina Conference on Sustainable Viticulture will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Warren Wilson College. The goal is to assist people in learning about growing grapes as sustainable as possible in North Carolina and provide an alternative to tobacco for many local farmers. The program is being sponsored by Jewel of the Blue Ridge Vineyard and the Sustainable Appalachian Viticulture Institute of Marshall NC.   The grape is the world’s most important fruit crop. Globally, grapevines cover more than 20 million acres, producing some 60 million tons of fruit, 80 percent of which is made into wine. Raleigh, NC – A storm water pond in the Art Park at the North Carolina Museum of Art that combines functionality and artfully sculpted landscaping received one of 11 Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Community Appearance Oct. 12.  The annual honors for community design and conservation is in its 29th year.   Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker presented the awards. Admission is free of charge each first Sunday at Airlie Gardens, Cape Fear Museum of History and Science and the New Hanover County Arboretum.   Airlie Gardens has moved its county free day from the second Saturday of each month, to the first Sunday of each month to coincide with the existing free day at the museum.
