Charlotte Hornets And Lowe’s To Donate $50,000 In Education Grants

Charlotte-Area Public Schools & Nonprofits Can Apply On Hornets.com   CHARLOTTE, NC Sept. 9, 2014 – The Charlotte Hornets and Lowe’s today announced they will award $50,000 for education-related projects in Mecklenburg County this fall as part of the longtime partners’ education grant program. For the second consecutive year, the grants will fund high-need projects at public schools and nonprofit education programs in the Charlotte area. Charlotte-area public schools (kindergarten through 12th grade) and all 501(c)(3) organizations that support public education in Mecklenburg County are eligible to apply for a grant at http://www.nba.com/hornets/2014-15-education-grant-application. Charlotte Hornets Forward Noah Vonleh Undergoes Successful Surgery

CHARLOTTE, NC Sept. 2, 2014 – Charlotte Hornets forward Noah Vonleh underwent successful surgery today to repair a sports hernia suffered in a recent workout.  The surgery was performed in Charlotte by Dr. B. Todd Henneford.  Vonleh is expected to miss approximately 6-8 weeks. The ninth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Vonleh was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Third Team All-Big Ten in 2013-14 at Indiana University after averaging 11.3 points, a Big Ten-high 9.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 26.5 minutes per game. CRESTON, NC August 15, 2014 — It was a team effort that landed 13-year-old Victoria Navaroli a state record fish from a private pond in Creston. In the early morning hours of July 12, the 13-year-old Charlotte girl watched as her big brother Jack baited his hook with ¼ of a nightcrawler and then handed his fishing rod to her. Two casts later, Victoria reeled in the record-breaking green sunfish. The fish weighed 1 pound, 15 ounces and measured 12 inches in length, breaking the previous state record, held since 2008 by Sean Vanderburg, by 1 ounce.
