Marine debris is a problem that continues to grow.  Our waterways and oceans are constantly polluted with a wide variety of marine debris ranging from polystyrene trays and plastic bags to derelict fishing equipment and abandoned boats. Marine life, such as several Fish species, Whales, Sharks, Sea Turtles, and Birds have been known to ingest marine debris or become entangled in marine debris, which may lead to injury, intestinal blockage, and death.  Marine debris is an Eastern North Carolina concern not only because of the threats to our native wildlife, our ecosystem and our own health, but it also washes up on beaches and shorelines degrading the environment, and effecting our local economy and tourism. MKG has Stress Reaction in His Right Foot CHARLOTTE, NC Nov. 14, 2014 – Charlotte Hornets forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right foot. Kidd-Gilchrist, who underwent a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) yesterday, will miss the remaining two games on the team’s road trip. He will be re-evaluated in Charlotte and a recovery timeline will be determined at that time. In six games this season, Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 9.8 points on .625 shooting from the field, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 23.3 minutes per game. NC Wildlife Commission Schedules Shooting Range Re-Opening Event

ELLERBE, NC Nov. 6, 2014 — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has scheduled a re-opening event at its recently renovated shooting range at the John F. Lentz Hunter Education Complex this Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The “Veteran’s Day Kickoff,” which is free and open to the public, celebrates the re-opening of the shooting range. Activities will include trap, rifle, archery, pistol and 3D archery shooting, as well as a Wildlife Enforcement Officer shooting demonstration. A catered barbeque lunch, provided by Valentine Land and Timber, will be served at noon.
