WEST END, NC August 27, 2014 – The Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA), a division of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA), is proud to announce the expansion of its junior golf tournament program.  TYGA has created a new series of one day events for junior girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 11 years of age called the TYGA Tots. These events will be conducted across NC and will consist of 9-hole tournaments played under a modified Stableford scoring system. Caswell Game Land Shooting Range Now Open to Public

YANCEYVILLE, NC August 22, 2014 — The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission held a ribbon cutting today to celebrate the opening of the Caswell Shooting Range, located on the agency’s R. Wayne Bailey-Caswell Game Land in Yanceyville. Several Commission employees, along with Wildlife Commissioner Tom Berry, N.C. Rep. Bert Jones and Caswell County Commissioner Kenneth Travis, cut the ceremonial green ribbon, officially opening the only Commission-owned public shooting range in the northern Piedmont area. The public shooting range, which is free to use, has a 100-yard rifle range with five shooting lanes and a 25-yard pistol range with five shooting lanes. Babe, who has entertained millions of Grasshoppers fans for 575 consecutive home games, had the 90 minute procedure Monday to surgically repair an auricular hematoma. “This occurred because a collection of blood and fluid developed between the skin and cartilage of the ear secondary to the rupture of a blood vessel in the ear flap.  The loose space under the skin filled up with blood and the pressure from the ruptured vessel caused the entire surface of the ear to swell and become very painful. NCBA Foundation’s Camp Challenge concludes 21st Year

GREENSBORO, NC August 12, 2014 – The North Carolina Bankers Association Foundation’s Camp Challenge, a financial literacy summer camp for high-achieving, low-resource middle school students, has successfully concluded its 21st summer. For the first time, Camp Challenge was held at YMCA Camp Weaver in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Camp’s eight weeks of programming wrapped up on Friday, August 8. GREENSBORO, NC July 30, 2014 — National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa has announced that the NC Entrepreneurship Center (NCEC) at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) is one of 886 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina’s wine and grape industry has experienced exponential growth in the past decade, employing more than 7,600 people. Now the industry has a five-year roadmap for continued growth and economic impact. Researchers from the UNCG Bryan School of Business and Economics have developed the first comprehensive strategic plan for the North Carolina wine and grape industry.
