SALISBURY, NC July 30, 2014: What:  Food Lion will host its “Thriller on the Griller” fundraising events at area beach stores July 31 through August 4 to benefit Hope For The Warriors®. The events will begin Thursday in Jacksonville, N.C., followed by Friday in Swansboro, N.C. They will continue on Saturday in Emerald Isle, N.C., and on Sunday in Atlantic Beach, N.C. The final event will be held on Monday back in Jacksonville, N.C. Who: For a small donation, customers can purchase lunch donated by vendors as well as bid on silent auction items. KINSTON, NC July 28, 2014 – CSS Neuse Civil War Interpretive Center will present “Civil War Surgery & Medicine” examining medicine and surgery at home and on the battlefield during the Civil War. The origins of modern triage practices can be traced back to the difficult choices made on the battlefield. UNCG School of Nursing fast-tracks medically trained veterans

GREENSBORO, NC July 22, 2014 – Obtaining a bachelor’s degree in nursing just became easier and faster for military veterans who have hands-on medical experience. The School of Nursing at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro today announced the launch of an accelerated nursing degree program that provides course credit for military experience. The new program, the UNCG Veterans Access Program (VAP), will start January 2015 with a cohort of approximately 24 veterans. With some prior college credit, veterans who are RNs can earn the bachelor’s of science in nursing (BSN) within nine months, and those earning the BSN leading to RN licensure can complete the program within 18 months. “Many veterans worked as medics, physical therapists, nurses’ aides, […]
