Raleigh, N.C. – Here’s a flashback from the campaign trail: Speaking to a group of NFIB small business leaders in Raleigh back in June, Walter Dalton proudly proclaimed that North Carolina is “business friendly,” proving how out of touch he is with the reality facing small businesses and job-creators in our state. In fact, Lt. Governor Walter Dalton has been a part of the broken system of state government for over 15 years that has been turning its back on the needs of job-creators in our economy. He also disagrees that North Carolina’s state government is broken at all. If Lt. Governor Walter Dalton can’t even admit that North Carolina has a problem, how can he be trusted to fix […]

“We had a letter on our desk, there were armed guards at the doors,” he remembers. “We went to one place if we had one letter—and a different place if we had a different letter. And everyone that had the same letter I did—we were laid off that day.” –David Both, former employee of Bain Capital’s Interpath Communications in NC The Republican National Convention didn’t shy away from Mitt Romney’s time at Bain Capital. In fact, night after night, they touted his business experience as a qualification to “lead” the country. But here in North Carolina, we’ve already seen that experience at work—and it’s not what will move our state forward. The News & Observer recently published a detailed report […]

WILMINGTON, NC, September 10, 2012 — It’s National Preparedness Month and the American Red Cross, Eastern NC Region, is encouraging all households to create a family disaster plan to make sure they are ready for the next emergency or disaster. Plans should include designating a meeting place right outside the home in case of a sudden emergency like a fire, an out-of-area emergency contact person and a location where everyone should meet if they can’t go home. All members of the household should work together on the emergency plan and each person should know how to reach other family members. “Disasters can strike at any time and being prepared is a family’s best defense,” said David Garrison, Regional […]
