Wednesday was a big day for drag racing’s premier sanctioning body as NHRA officials unveiled the 2013 schedule and announced that, beginning next year, The Coca-Cola Company will rebrand NHRA’s top series the Mellow Yellow Drag Racing Series.

Opening Night at the DBAP Slated for Monday, April 8th – The Durham Bulls today announce their home schedule for the 2013 International League season. After opening the season on the road, the Bulls kick off their 72-game home slate on Monday, April 8th against the Gwinnett Braves. The home schedule concludes on Tuesday, August 27th, with the Bulls then closing out the regular season on the road. The Bulls will once again host a home game on the Fourth of July, when the division rival Norfolk Tides visit the DBAP for a two game series on July 4 and 5. Joseph Bathanti Named Poet Laureate for North Carolina by Governor Perdue

Raleigh, NC – Award winning poet, professor and advocate for literacy, Joseph Bathanti, of Vilas, has been named North Carolina’s Poet Laureate by Governor Bev Perdue. “Joseph Bathanti is an award-winning poet and novelist with a robust commitment to social causes. He first came to North Carolina to work in the VISTA program and has taught writing workshops in prisons for 35 years,” Perdue said. “As North Carolina’s new Poet Laureate he plans to work with veterans to share their stories through poetry — a valuable and generous project.” North Carolina’s seventh poet laureate, Bathanti will be installed during a public celebration scheduled Thursday, Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the State Capitol.
