IRVING, Texas June 13, 2012 – Former soccer standout Kimmy Cummings was one of 12 recipients of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Awards Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced Wednesday afternoon. This is the fourth year the award has been named for Dr. Castañeda, who served Rice University for 46 years as an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative before he passed away in November 2008. The conference annually presents the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the C-USA Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors. Wilmington, Richmond encounter once more Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington Hammerheads will host the Richmond Kickers at Legion Stadium on Friday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. with the determination to continue their home game winning streak. MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – Behind a grand slam and two solo home runs on offense, plus a complete game from Mike Frank on the mound, the Wilmington Sharks (8-5) traveled north and posted a season high nine runs in a 9-3 victory over the Morehead City Marlins (3-11). Charleston, SC – The 2011-12 season will be remembered for firsts as South Carolina United and the Charleston Battery joined forces to raise the level of elite boy’s soccer in the state of South Carolina. On Monday, May 28th South Carolina United Battery’s Pre-Academy Team defeated Charlotte Soccer Academy 4-0 to claim the inaugural South East Pre-Academy League Championship. Next up for the 14 team is a trip to Nationals in Chicago, Illinois July 27-31.
