Morgan Eisenga Commits To Play For The Pirates GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina added a second member of its 2013 signing class Tuesday as pitcher Morgan Eisenga signed a national letter-of-intent to attend ECU and play softball with the Pirates beginning in the fall of 2012.   “We are very excited to be adding Morgan and her family into our Pirate family,” head coach Tracey Kee said. “I feel her energy and desire to win will be a great addition to our squad.”   Eisenga, a native of Escalon, Calif., played one season for Escalon High School before concentrating on her summer softball programs. Pair of Outfielders Look To Heat Up “The Swamp”

Fayetteville, NC – The Fayetteville SwampDogs are pleased to welcome a pair of teammates from the nationally top-ranked University of Tampa to help bolster the outfield for the 2012 season. Connor Obrochta and Zach Gawrych are both coming off stellar campaigns in their sophomore seasons this spring. Gawrych led the Spartans in hitting in 2012, with a whopping .385 average in 34 starts. His four triples were also the most on the squad, and he added seven steals to illuminate his athleticism. The 6-1, 190-pound Tampa native was named to the SSC’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll in his freshman year, where he played in 36 games. He hit .385 in his senior year at Wharton High School. May 14, 2012 – After winning the league’s indoor title earlier this year, the East Carolina women’s track and field team produced its highest-ever outdoor finish Sunday in the 2012 Conference USA Outdoor Championships at Tad Gormley Stadium. The ladies garnered a total of 132.16 points – 28 behind champion and No. 18 UCF. Wildlife Commission Offers Tips on Coexisting With Black Bears

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 11) – As the weather warms, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is offering advice on avoiding conflicts with black bears emerging from hibernation. The Commission is cautioning people to take care not to feed bears that wander into camp sites, yards, parks, sidewalks or other residential areas. Feeding a bear rewards it for coming close to people and their homes, and makes it more likely to approach again. While black bears are rarely aggressive toward people, they can become bold when they become accustomed to feeding on human-provided foods, such as garbage and bird seed.
