Outer Banks, NC – The OBX representatives at only their 2nd (exception Julian Payne) Regional grew by leaps and bounds from their 1st appearance. Everyone of these kids advance out of their heats in a contest of the Mid-Atlantic Regional which had record breaking attendance of over 400 competitors. Three of the of them made it to the finals. Julian Payne – 4th in Junior Mens, Micheal Ford – 6th in Junior Mens and 5th in Junior Longboard, Quentin Turko – 5th in Boys These kids have become sponsored riders. LUBBOCK, Texas May 4, 2012 – East Carolina sophomore Jack Reinheimer is one of 50 players named to the 2012 Brooks Wallace Shortstop-of-the-Year Watch List the College Baseball Hall of Fame announced Thursday evening. Complete Watch List The Wallace Award, sponsored by Mizuno, recognizes the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented on June 30 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Night of Champions. Reinheimer, who has started all 45 games this season at shortstop, is one of four Conference USA players on the initial watch list and is joined by Ford Stainback (Rice), Ashley Graeter (Southern Miss) and Darnell Sweeney (UCF). HATTERAS – In ceremonies next week, communities on the Outer Banks pay honor to World War II British and Canadian sailors who gave their lives to defend the coast of the United States. The British War Grave ceremonies take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, at the World War II British Cemetery in Buxton, and again at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, at the World War II British Cemetery in Ocracoke. Onslow County, NC – During the May 3, 2012 meeting of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, a delegation representing Onslow County and the City of Jacksonville joined state officials as Mr. Erik Christofferson, Division of Engineering Services Division Chief presented a memorandum of agreement authorizing a partnership between the state, city, and county. The purpose of this agreement is to create one of the largest boating access areas in eastern North Carolina. The Wildlife Resources Commission voted unanimously to enter into this three-party agreement, and has agreed to participate in the development of the 5.34 acre site located in downtown Jacksonville, by designing, permitting, and constructing the boating access area using state funds. “We want to thank the state for […]

Senior rider set to make her fourth appearance at nationals   RALEIGH, N.C. – McKenzie Armour will represent the College of Charleston equestrian team as an individual rider when she competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championships on Thursday, May 3 at the Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, N.C.   Armour (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) qualified for nationals when she championed the Open Flat event at the IHSA Zone 5 Championships at Virginia Intermont on March 31.   Armour, a senior on the team this season, is no stranger to the National Championship stage.
