Baseball Hosts Letterwinners And ECBL Game This Weekend

GREENVILLE, N.C. April 27, 2012 – The East Carolina baseball team will host its annual Letterwinners Day and its Exceptional Community Baseball League (ECBL) game this weekend at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium. Prior to first pitch on Saturday, Apr. 28 (approximately 1:45 p.m.), ECU will recognize nearly 30 former letterwinners, which include Hall of Famers Dennis Burke, Cotton Clayton, Ron Hastings, Ms. Betty Mallory (representing Jim Mallory), Dr. Gary Overton and Al Vaughn. “College Night” Set to Kickoff at 7:30pm at Legion Stadium Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington Hammerheads are still seeking for their first win of the season this Saturday night as they face off against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Legion Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on USLNation.com for those unable to attend.   The Hammerheads were unable to find the back of the net in last Saturday’s game versus the Harrisburg City Islanders and concluded the match in a scoreless tie. UNC Wilmington Public History Students Help Tidal Creek Co-op Celebrate 30 Years with History Exhibit; Opening April 28

Wilmington, N.C. – Tidal Creek Cooperative Food Market is celebrating its 30-year anniversary in June 2012. To commemorate this historic marker for Wilmington’s cooperative community, the students in the Public History Program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington have created an exhibit chronicling the co-op’s beginnings and growth, entitled “Feeding Tradition: A History of Tidal Creek Cooperative Food Market.”   All are welcome to attend the exhibit opening from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at Tidal Creek Co-op. Elizabeth City, NC – On Friday, May 11th at 10pm, The Travel Channel will air the episode of The Dead Files, in which they will discuss the mysterious death of Elizabeth City resident Nell Cropsey. Back in January, the Travel Channel pointed their cameras at the famed Cropsey House, the current owners and local residents, to try and solve this compelling mystery. The film crew also wandered around town shooting what they said was undoubtedly a very beautiful town (they called it “B roll” shooting) for background purposes.
