Morehead City, N.C. – The Morehead City Marlins are pleased to announce they will play the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, on June 27 at Big Rock Stadium.  This will be the first ever exhibition contest between the two teams and will undoubtedly add further excitement to the 2012 schedule. The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team consists of the best collegiate baseball players in the country. WILMINGTON, North Carolina – No. 48 South Carolina dropped the doubles point, but rallied with four singles victories to knock off No. 46 UNCW, 4-3, in men’s tennis action Saturday at the UNCW Tennis Complex. The Gamecocks pushed their record to 8-1 this season and bounced back from a loss at N.C. State last Saturday. Department of Cultural Resources, the award recognizes significant contributions of individuals in the fields of fine arts, literature, public service, and science. RALEIGH, NC – The Greater Raleigh Sports Council tonight announced that Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner has been named Capitol Broadcasting Company Sports Person of the Year. Skinner received the honor at the organization’s annual Evening of Champions event, held tonight at the RBC Center. Skinner, 19, became the first player in Carolina’s franchise history to win the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie in 2010-11, ranking first among league rookies in points (63), second in assists (32) and third in goals (31). The Markham, Ont., native was tied for second among NHL rookies in power-play assists (12) and power-play points (18), and trailed only Eric Staal among Hurricanes skaters in goals and points.
