State in a tight battle of two ranked men’s tennis teams Tuesday at the UNCW Tennis Complex. The match-tested Seahawks snapped NCSU’s eight-match winning streak to improve to 7-2 overall this spring and 6-1 at home. AIKEN, S.C. March 6, 2012 — The East Carolina men’s golf team earned a fifth-place finish at the 15th Annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, which was held at the 6,617-yard par-70 Palmetto Golf Club. The Pirates fired a 28-over 868 (290-285-293) to finish 14 strokes behind team champion No. 13 Clemson (286-285-282=854). 2012 Palmetto Intercollegiate Final Results Virginia (292-278-285=855) finished one stroke behind the Tigers in second-place with South Carolina (286-284-293=863) claiming third-place, nine strokes back and No. 34 Liberty (291-290-286=867) taking fourth, one stroke ahead of the Pirates. March 6, 2012- The East Carolina women’s tennis squad swept five singles matches in straight sets and earned the doubles point to post a 6-0 non-conference victory over Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Monday afternoon. The win, which also served as the Lady Pirates’ second shutout of the season, improved ECU’s overall spring dual match record to 5-8. East Carolina opened the match by capturing the doubles point against the Gallitos, who compete as an independent at the NCAA Division II level.
