It didn’t take long for Blaney to witness his two-time All-America performer do it again last week in Birmingham. In the opener against the Hoosiers (9-10), the teams combined for all nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings and an RBI single by Amanda Wagner in the fifth provided the winning run. RALEIGH – Since the beginning of the Civil War (1861-1865) 150 years have passed, but its widespread impact and defining characteristics remain vivid. These can especially be seen and the state’s war experience is illustrated in the Freedom, Sacrifice, Memory: Civil War Sesquicentennial Photography Exhibit. N.C. Maritime Museum Exhibit Features African American Watermen

BEAUFORT –  Images from the 1870s through the 1980s capture the workaday life of African American watermen in a new exhibit at the N.C. Maritime Museum in Beaufort. “African Americans and North Carolina Maritime History,” will be on display through early June. The exhibit’s 33 images are from the museum’s collection.  Photos include oystering, seafood processing, the Menhaden Chantymen singers, and rescuers at coastal lifesaving stations. The N.C. Maritime Museum in Beaufort is located at 315 Front Street. The three N.C. Maritime Museums are the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, Hatteras; the N.C. Maritime Museum, Beaufort; and the N.C. RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned forward Zach Boychuk to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). This concludes the second NHL recall of the season for Boychuk, 22, who has totaled two assists in 16 games with the Hurricanes this season. The Airdrie, Alb., native ranks second among Charlotte skaters in goals (14) and third in points (32), skating in 45 games on the AHL level this season.
