Sneads Ferry, NC: Established in 1728 with a ferry by Edmund Ennett. By 1759, two ferries operated there from each bank of New River with Robert Snead as the proprietor of the ferry on the north shore which later became known as “Sneads Ferry”. The village has been heavily dependent on the seafood industry. Home of the Sneads Ferry Community Theatre.

JACKSONVILLE, NC August 13, 2014 — The Sneads Ferry Community Plan team will host a Community Workshop on Tuesday, August 19, in the cafeteria at Dixon Elementary School, 130 Betty Dixon Road, Holly Ridge from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The workshop is open to the general public. This event will be an interactive open house and the public is encouraged to stop by at any time to participate. During the workshop, members of the community will be able to provide input on the potential growth alternatives and transportation exhibits drafted by the plan’s Blue Ribbon Panel and project team.
