Onslow County Animal Services urges citizens to be mindful of the heat and keep pets cool to protect them from heat related illness and injury. Never leave pets in the car. On an 85 F degree day, the temperature inside a car with the windows slightly open can reach 120 degrees within 30 minutes. Tips to Stay Safe during Winter Weather EASTERN, NC, Feb. 11, 2014 – As the southeast once again braces for winter storms, the Eastern NC Region of the American Red Cross is preparing to respond if needed. Five teams of Red Cross shelter volunteers are on standby in the Cape Fear, Coastal Carolina and Onslow County Chapter areas in the event that shelters need to be opened. Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) crews are also on standby to drive Red Cross disaster relief vehicles located in Wilmington, New Bern, Goldsboro, Rocky Mount, and Elizabeth City. ALUMINUM BOAT MANUFACTURER TO CREATE 200 JOBS IN ONSLOW COUNTY Onslow County, NC – The Onslow County Commissioners and the Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development office announced today that Armstrong Marine, Inc. is establishing a welded aluminum boat manufacturing operation in Onslow County. The company plans to create 200 jobs and invest more than $8.4 million at their new facility near Swansboro which was previously occupied by Hatteras Yachts. Onslow County commissioners expressed enthusiasm. Chairman Paul Buchanan said, “It is great that Onslow County citizens will have the opportunity to compete for new jobs.
