Wilmington Symphony Announces 2014-15 Masterworks Series Concert Season WILMINGTON, NC July 22, 2014 – The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce its 2014-15 Masterworks Series Concert Season, “Stars. Planets. WILMINGTON, NC July 18, 2014 – Sectional qualifying results of the 5th North Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship hosted by Masonboro Country Club in Wilmington, NC on Friday, July 18, 2014 (6619 yards, Par 35-36—71, 74.4/139). Chris Eaves of Burgaw, NC and Christian Cichan of Charlotte, NC both shot one-over par 72 to share medalist honors. Only for a Limited Time Aug. 2-Sept. 13 WINNABOW, NC July 17, 2014 – A cannon ball, window glass and gold dust from the wreck of Blackbeard’s flagship, Queen Anne’s Revenge (QAR), will be on exhibit at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site from Aug. 2 to Sept. 13. A ribbon cutting will open the exhibit and will feature a talk about artifacts recovered from the shipwreck by QAR Project Director Billy Ray Morris. WILMINGTON, NC July 16, 2014 — The American Red Cross encourages all eligible blood donors to make an appointment to donate blood soon to help prevent a shortage. During the summer months, on average, about two fewer donors give blood at each Red Cross blood drive than what is needed to meet the needs of patients. Vacations and summer activities are among the reasons regular donors may not find the time to give. But, patients don’t get a vacation from needing blood – the need is constant. CAROLINAS LEADS ENTERING THE FINAL DAY OF THE 58th VIRGINIAS-CAROLINAS WOMEN’S TEAM MATCHES   WILMINGTON, NC July 15, 2014 – The 24-golfer Carolinas team owns a 15-point lead (43½-28½) over their Virginias counterparts entering Wednesday’s final day of the 58th Virginias-Carolinas Women’s Team Matches being conducted at Porter’s Neck Country Club. Carolinas won second day modified foursome matches by six points (21-15). UNCW Women’s Tennis Team Collects ITA Academic Honors

WILMINGTON, NC July 15, 2014 – Following its most successful season ever, the UNCW women’s tennis team has been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as an ITA All-Academic Team, with seven players designated as ITA Scholar Athletes. Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Tennis Player-of-the-Year Angie Sekely (Mississauga, Ontario) heads up the group of Seahawks honored. Olga Blank (Winnipeg, Canada), Kelly Cameron (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), Hollie Champion (Charlotte, N.C.), Hamilton Lovett (Raleigh, N.C.), Alyssa Ritchie (Franklin, Ohio) and Alix Theodossiou (Asheville, N.C.) round out the award winners.
