CHARLESTON, S.C. – Two weekend regattas are up next for the College of Charleston coed and women’s sailing teams with the Navy Fall Intersectional hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy on Oct. 13-14 in Annapolis, Md., and the Yale Women’s Intersectional hosted by Yale on Oct. 13-14 in New London, Conn. The Cougars climbed to No. 3 in the latest Sailing World’s College Coed Rankings, presented by Sperry Top-Sider, released on Oct. 10, while the CofC women made a significant jump from No. 12 to No. 6 in the country in the women’s rankings. Despite falling behind 23-7 after the first quarter, the Cats bounced back nicely but weren’t able to hold off the Hornets in a 90-87 loss. VENICE, Fla. – Former College of Charleston women’s golfer (2006-09) and current Symetra Tour member Fiona Puyo fired a first-round 7-under par 65 to take the lead at the second stage of the 2012 Qualifying Tournament. College of Charleston to Participate in the “Great Shakeout”

Charleston, SC – The College of Charleston is participating in the nationwide earthquake drill called the “Great Shakeout!” on October 18, 2012. As part of this drill students, faculty and staff will be asked to “Drop, Cover, and Hold” for one minute starting at 10:18 a.m. “Drop, Cover, and Hold” means that they will get on the floor, seek cover under a sturdy desk or against an inside wall, and hold on to that object because during an earthquake objects tend to move about. GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sean de Silva scored 27 seconds into the second overtime period to lift the College of Charleston men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over UNC Greensboro in Southern Conference play at the UNCG Soccer Complex on Tuesday night.
