Charleston’s five-game win streak snapped during opener at Savannah SAVANNAH, GA July 10, 2014 – Eduardo de Oleo blasted his team-leading 10th home run for the Charleston RiverDogs on Thursday evening, but the Savannah Sand Gnats snapped a five-game RiverDogs win streak with a 4-1 Sand Gnats victory at Historic Grayson Stadium in South Atlantic League action. CARY, NC July 9, 2014 – College of Charleston freshman pitcher Bailey Ober completed his three-week stint with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on July 5 after a series with Chinese Taipei. A native of Charlotte, N.C., Ober remained on the team past the training camp cuts as the only alternate for the series against Chinese Taipei. He made two relief appearances in the five-game series, including one in the 10th inning in an international tiebreaker scenario. TORONTO – College of Charleston infielder Gunnar Heidt has agreed to terms with the Toronto Blue Jays and will not return to College of Charleston for his senior season. A native of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Heidt was drafted in the 13th round of this year’s MLB Draft, becoming the 14th player drafted under head coach Monte Lee in the last six seasons. Lee Signs Contract Extension At College of Charleston CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball head coach Monte Lee has signed an eight-year, $193,000/year contract extension and will remain in Charleston as CofC’s head coach. This past week, Lee interviewed for the head coaching position at Arizona State, a program that has won five national championships and is considered one of the nation’s most storied programs.
