LYNCHBURG, VA June 10, 2014 – College of Charleston pitcher Bailey Ober has been selected as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman Pitcher of the Year, the organization announced Tuesday. Hailing from Huntersville, N.C. and Charlotte Christian High School, Ober put together a dominant freshman season beginning with a five-inning shutout in relief to defeat then-No. 12 North Carolina on opening day and ending with an eight-inning, one-run performance against No. 10 Texas Tech in the NCAA Super Regional. LUBBOCK, TX June 8, 2014 – For the fourth time in five NCAA games this postseason, College of Charleston baseball is in a rain delay with weather moving through Lubbock, Texas. The game was originally scheduled to start at 3 p.m. ET, but fans were asked to evacuate the ball park as a severe weather cell moved through, dumping rain and hail on the field. Texas Tech officials have now set a projected starting time of 3:45 p.m. ET. All three of College of Charleston’s games in the Gainesville Regional were delayed or moved because of weather issues.
