Clemson Tigers Football Practice Report #14

CLEMSON, SC August 18, 2014 — It was the last day of two-a-day practices for the Clemson football team.  The veterans practiced for 90 minutes in the morning, then the entire team worked for two hours in the evening.  The night practice ended a little after 9 pm. The freshmen had an academic meeting in the morning at Littlejohn Coliseum.  But, they were back on the practice fields in the evening. Vernon Hamilton Named Graduate Manager for Tiger Basketball

Hamilton Returns to Alma Mater as Graduate Manager   CLEMSON, SC August 18, 2014 — One of Clemson’s most renowned defensive players is returning to the program as a staff member. Vernon Hamilton has joined the Tigers as a graduate manager, the school announced today. Hamilton is Clemson’s career and single-season steals leader and played for the Tigers from 2003-07. Following his collegiate career, Hamilton played professionally overseas and domestically. He took part in NBA training camps with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008 and Detroit Pistons in 2010. He played for four different NBA Development League teams, winning a championship with the Colorado 14ers in 2009. Hamilton also played for the Austin Toros, Erie BayHawks and Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Kailen Sheridan Selected to Preseason All-ACC Team

CLEMSON, SC August 18, 2014 – Sophomore goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan was named to the Preseason All-ACC Women’s Soccer Team as announced by the conference office on Monday. The 11-member preseason all-conference team was selected by a vote of the league’s head coaches. Sheridan, a native of Whitby, Ontario, was a member of the All-ACC Third Team and the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2013. She started all 19 games in goal for the Tigers during her rookie season, posting 66 saves and allowing just 18 goals. Clemson Tigers Defeat UAB in Exhibition Saturday at Riggs

CLEMSON, SC August 16, 2014 – The Clemson men’s soccer team kicked off its exhibition season with a 2-0 win over UAB at Historic Riggs Field Saturday night. The teams played three 30 minute periods and ended the game with a round of penalty kicks. Junior TJ Casner got the scoring started off for the Tigers in the 21st minute. Casner found the back of the net off a free kick from 20 yards out on the left side. Senior Manolo Sanchez scored Clemson’s second goal of the evening in the 34th minute. Clemson Women’s Soccer Defeats Furman in Final Exhibition

CLEMSON, SC August 15, 2014 – Senior Savannah Coiner and sophomore Catrina Atanda scored in the final 13 minutes of the game to help the Tigers to a 2-0 exhibition game win over Furman at Historic Riggs Field Friday night. The game was scoreless until Atanda scored in the 78th minute on a diagonal shot from eight yards out on Furman goalkeeper Holly Reilly. Less than two minutes later, Coiner followed up with a goal of her own on a long-range shot, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead, good enough to hold off the Furman offense and give Eddie Radwanksi’s Tigers the win. CLEMSON, SC August 12, 2014 – The Clemson men’s soccer team kicked off the 2014 season with two training sessions Tuesday. Both sessions were held at the soccer practice fields, adjacent to the Football Indoor Practice Facility on Clemson’s campus. Head Coach Mike Noonan, entering his fifth season leading the Tiger program, returns nine starters, including several key contributors to last season’s success. Clemson finished sixth in the ACC last season with an overall record of 11-7-3, 5-4-2 in conference play, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
