Ben Paulsen Called Up to the Colorado Rockies

CLEMSON, SC July 21, 2014 – Former Tiger first-baseman Ben Paulsen was called up to the majors for the first time with the Colorado Rockies on Monday. The Acworth, Ga. native batted .291 with 15 homers, six triples, 24 doubles, 47 RBIs and a .380 on-base percentage in 95 games with the Colorado Springs (AAA) SkySox in 2014.   Paulsen, son of former Clemson Assistant Coach (2003-10) and current Winthrop Head Coach Tom Riginos (2011-present), can become the 52nd Tiger in history to play in an MLB game and the seventh Tiger in 2014. CLEMSON, SC July 14, 2014 — Clemson senior linebacker Stephone Anthony was named to the watch list for the Butkus Award and the Lombardi Award on Monday.  The Butkus Award is given annually to the top linebacker in college football, while the Lombardi Award goes to the top lineman, offensive or defensive. Earlier, Anthony was named to the watch lists for the Bednarik Award and the Nagurski Award. CLEMSON, SC June 18, 2014 – Clemson Memorial Stadium has been ranked as the number-one college football stadium in the ACC by Athlon Sports.  The publication solicited a ranking from 12 beat media members from ACC schools and Clemson received nine of the 12 first-place votes to win the poll by a large margin. Earlier this summer, the same publication announced its rating of the top 25 college football stadiums in the nation and Clemson placed number-seven nationally. Memorial Stadium, known as “Death Valley” since the late 1940s when Presbyterian Coach Lonnie McMillan coined the term, was first opened on September 19, 1942.  The Tigers have a record of 276-101-7 in 72 years in the facility. The event that was held at St. Louis Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, is held every two years and features the top women’s amateur players from the United States against amateurs from Great Britain and Ireland. Earlier this spring Ramsey, a freshman at Clemson this past year, announced she would turn professional after the Curtis Cup.
