2014 Football Gets Underway Friday, August 1 COLUMBIA, SC July 29, 2014 – The South Carolina Gamecock football team will open fall camp on Friday, August 1. The first week of practices, which are open to the public, will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Bluff Road practice fields, across the street from Williams-Brice Stadium. TICKETS: South Carolina Gamecocks Football Players will not be available for autographs prior to, during or after the practices. Pets are not permitted on the practice fields. South Carolina Gamecock Men’s Basketball Visits Fort Jackson

COLUMBIA, SC July 28, 2014 – The South Carolina men’s basketball team, along with head coach Frank Martin, spent time at Fort Jackson in Columbia today, holding an event for children at the Solomon Center. The community outreach is part of the “8K In 8 Days” campaign for Gamecock men’s basketball. The event opened with Major General Bradley Becker, the Fort Jackson Commanding General, addressing the crowd and introducing Martin. The team members were next introduced before Major General Becker presented Coach Martin with a gift. The over 250 children in attendance next split into groups and learned fundamentals of basketball, such as dribbling, stretching, lay-ups and more drills, with team members leadings the groups. 65th CAROLINAS JUNIOR BOYS’ CHAMPIONSHIPAT CAMDEN COUNTRY CLUB IN CAMDEN, SC – JULY 29-31, 2014 WEST END, NC July 28, 2014 – The 65th Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship will be held at the Camden Country Club in Camden, SC on July 29-31, 2014. 131 players have qualified for the 2014 Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship. MOREHEAD CITY, NC July 28, 2014 – The Marlins lost their second straight game Sunday—a 19-8 defeat at the hands of the Columbia Blowfish in a game that featured five home runs, five hit by pitches, a position player pitching, and relief pitchers batting. The Blowfish scored nine times in the eighth inning off relievers Scott Edge and Michael Barber, which made it a 17-5 game at the time. Hardy Proaxis-X Plays Major Role COLUMBIA, SC July 24, 2014 – Nathaniel Linville was named Grand Champion at the 2014 Del Brown Invitational Permit Tournament in Key West, Florida. Linville, with Captain Aaron Snell, caught and released five permit during the three-day tourney. There were fifteen permit caught and released by the fifteen angler/captain teams. Linville and partner Captain Aaron Snell, both of Key West, accumulated 800 points including the largest permit of the tournament measuring 32 inches to the fork. The nearest competitors had won the event three of the five previous years but could only score 300 this year.
