ZEBULON, NC MAY 25, 2014 – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, came from three down in the final two frames to knock off the Carolina Mudcats 5-4 on Sunday night. Jorge Alfaro clubbed a game-tying three-run homer in the eighth, and the Pelicans scored two in the ninth, hanging on for the win. For the third time in the series, the Mudcats (22-25) scored in the first inning. Carolina collected four straight hits to open the game off of Chi Chi Gonzalez. Zebulon, NC May 24, 2014 – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans broke a two-all tie in the seventh inning with four runs to wrangle the Carolina Mudcats 6-2 on Saturday night at Five County Stadium. The Mudcats (22-24) fall 7.5 games behind the first place Pelicans (30-17) with the loss. The Pelicans scored the final five runs to spoil a quality start from Shawn Morimando. The lefty allowed two runs on four hits across six innings. He walked three and struck out four. Morimando has five quality starts in 10 outings. WILMINGTON, DE April 26, 2014 – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, lost on a walk-off wild pitch on Saturday night in Wilmington to the Blue Rocks 5-4. The Pelicans erased a 3-1 deficit and led 4-3 but allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth to suffer the defeat. Sam Stafford struck out Raul Mondesi with two outs in the ninth, but the third strike was a wild pitch, and Terrance Gore scored from third base to win it for the home team.
