The Pelicans, tied with the Potomac Nationals, had the most players named to the team, as catcher Jorge Alfaro and outfielders Chris Garia and Nick Williams also made the All-Star roster. TWO UNEARNED RUNS UPEND BIRDS IN SIX-INNING GAME   LYNCHBURG, VA August 23, 2014 – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, suffered a rain-shortened 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Lynchburg Hillcats on Saturday night at Calvin Falwell Field. The Birds allowed two unearned runs in the fourth, the game was delayed in the sixth, and ultimately called due to inclement weather. Both starting pitchers worked out of jams in the early going.
