COLUMBIA, SC July 25, 2014 – University of South Carolina head coach Boo Major announced on Friday the hiring of Hillary Dobbs as the Gamecocks’ new hunt seat coach. Dobbs is the daughter of Fox Business Network host and commentator Lou Dobbs. “We are extremely excited about adding Hillary to our staff with the experience and success that she’s had as a professional,” Major said. “In a very short amount of time, she has proven that she is a top notch rider with international experience and has had great success as a trainer as well. Gamecocks host Texas A&M on Saturday in Blythewood COLUMBIA, SC Feb. 18, 2014 – The University of South Carolina equestrian team is ranked No. 1 for a school record 12th straight week in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) rankings, it was announced today. No previous South Carolina team in any sport has ever been ranked No. 1 for more consecutive weeks during a season. The Gamecocks have been ranked No. 1 since Dec. 2, 2013. CofC Equestrian Clinches Regional Championship at Clemson

PENDLETON, SC Feb. 17, 2014 – The College of Charleston equestrian team clinched the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 5 Region 3 Hunter Seat Championship with first and second place finishes at two IHSA shows hosted by Clemson at Garrison Arena in Pendleton, S.C., on February 15-16. On Saturday the Cougars beat second-place Clemson in highly-contested riding by a 36-33 margin. The team jumped out to an early lead behind High Point Rider of the day junior Eliza Hay’s two wins in Open Flat (sec. B) and Open Fences (sec. B). Freshman Blaine Ferraro won Open Flat (sec. CofC Equestrian Returns to Regional Action

Cougars look to champion fifth straight show competition CLEMSON, SC Feb. 15, 2014 – The College of Charleston returns to Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA)Zone 5 Region 3 action with a two-day, two-Hunt Seat show hosted by Clemson at T. Ed Garrison Arena this weekend. The Cougars enter the show seeking their fifth High Point Team honor in as many shows and most recently finished the Georgia Southern show with 47 points, just two shy of a perfect score and 16 clear of second-place Clemson as the Cougars padded their lead on the regional standings. The Cougars now have a commanding 40-point lead over second-place Georgia Southern with only CofC’s host show remaining before the Zone 5 Championships in April.
